Dennis Michael Swoboda, 60, of Commerce City, Colorado, formerly of Hanover, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Visitation was from Noon until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Hanover Mortuary in Hanover. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday at the Hanover Mortuary. Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Father David Metz officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang “On Eagles Wings”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman” and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Sean Koppes, Shayn Koppes, Jacob Swoboda, Jeff Willard, James Ungerer and Jeremiah Ungerer. The honorary pallbearers were Tyler Swoboda, Tanner Swoboda, Sheldon Koppes, Jared Ungerer, Lenny Swarts, Gary Bliss and Robert Sutherland. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Hanover. Dennis was born on November 13, 1954 at Beatrice, NE, to Louis and Agnes (Kostal) Swoboda. He attended school in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School in 1972. Dennis was united in marriage to Deborah Zimmerman of Washington, KS, on May 1, 1976 at Hanover and they had two daughters. They later divorced in 1988. Dennis worked for Kiers Thriftway, Sedlacek’s Furniture, Endicott Clay Products and Farmland Foods before moving to Arvada, Colorado in 1990, where he began working for Tarco, Inc. as a foreman and in 2007, he began working as a project supervisor for Edge Contracting. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include daughters, Michelle (Leon) Rumsey, Washington, Rebekah (Dan) Cook, Wamego; three brothers, Louis (Jenny) Swoboda, Manhattan, Gary (Linda) Swoboda, Estes Park, CO, Kenny (Suzann) Swoboda, Miliken, CO; two sisters, JoAnn (John) Koppes, Clay Center, Kathy (Jon) Ungerer, Marysville; four grandchildren, Jordyn and Allie Rumsey, Danny and Andrea Cook; and several nieces and nephews, and his best friend, “Spud” the dog. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family at later time. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
