Regina K. Koch, 96, of Marysville, KS. died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Homestead of Auburn in Auburn, KS. Visitation was noon until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19 at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Rosemary Forst played the organ while the church choir sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “The Summons”, “You Are Mine” and “Let Us Build the City of God”. The pallbearers will be Brett Koch, Scott Koch, Josh Meyer, Matt Hughes, Zach Meyer, Eric Bowser, Jack Mackey, Adam Bowser and Justin Mackey. The honorary pallbearers were the nieces and nephews. Burial was in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Regina was born September 8, 1918 in Axtell, KS, to Peter J. and Mary (Montgomery) Egan. She graduated Axtell High School in 1937. On April 22, 1940, she married Gilbert E. Koch at St Bridget Catholic Church. Together they owned Koch Produce for thirty-one years and Regina worked at the Community Memorial Hospital for twenty five-years. She served as president of the women’s Altar Society in the parishes of St. Michael’s in Axtell and St. Gregory’s. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gilbert on March 14, 1996; sisters, Irene Koch, Marjorie Eagan, Genevieve Broxterman, Evelyn Koch, Lucile Fox; and brother, John Eagan. Survivors include her daughter, Gerry Ann (Max) Hartsook, Topeka; sons, Don (Kathy) Koch, Topeka, Ed (Mari) Koch, Ramona, OK; sisters, Rose McGeeney, Mary Hunninghake, both of Seneca, Betty Ketter, Topeka; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established to St. Gregory’s Catholic Church or St. Bridget Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, 1006 Broadway, Marysville, KS 66508.
