Lucy M. Meeks

Lucy M. Meeks, 75, of Marysville, Kan., died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, March 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 24 at Kinsley Mortuary. Pastor Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Wind Beneath My Wings”, “Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Sherry Dale, Jeff Milner, Johnathon Milner, Jeremy Milner, Ron Milner and Todd Milner. Lucy was born December 2, 1939 at Egypt, Ark., daughter of Perry Harrison and Effie (Hamilton) Donley. She graduated from high school and attended college both in Michigan. During 1958-1962 she served in the United States Army. On July 19, 1963 she married Marvin Dale at Detroit, Mich. They later divorced. To this union three daughters were born, Sherry, Nora and Joyce. On May 27, 1988 she married John Meeks at Houston, Tex. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2010. Lucy was a homemaker and also worked as a hairdresser and once owned a restaurant. She enjoyed going to the casino and photography. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Meeks; and siblings, Evon Chandler, Pat Milliken and Bobbie Olena Donley. Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Dale, Hockley, TX, Nora Dale-Ellis (Brian), Magnolia, TX, and Joyce Milner (Jeff), Marysville; siblings, Anita Hill, Minor-Hill, TN, Mildred Tucker, Valdosta, GA, Rosalie Russo, Charlotte, NC, and Billie Donley, Troy, MI; three grandchildren, Jeremy Milner (Kylie), Johnathon Milner and Max Doss; and three great-grandchildren, Carlee Milner, Weston Milner and Brantley Hill. A memorial fund has been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
