Verna June Riekenberg

Verna J. Riekenberg, 74, of Hanover, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Lincoln, Nebraska. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Trinity Lutheran Church north-east of Hanover. The Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. On February 6, 1955 Versa was married to DeVere Riekenberg, the service conducted at Bethlehem Lutheran by the Rev. A.H. Fuhr. Versa served her Lord as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, a member of Trinity's Ladies Aid, as a member of Trinity Lutheran PTL and as a member of the building committee. Versa was a homemaker. She also worked for the Odell Drug Store and the Hanover Hospital. Her hobbies included bird watching and attending all of her Grandchildren's activities. Versa was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nettle; husband, DeVere; brother, Lawrence Knabe; sister, Lulu Knabe; brother and sister -in -law, Ervin and Elaine Knabe; brother-in-law, Richard Wieters; and granddaughter, Ashley Pralle. Versa is survived by her children, Renae Tegtemeier and husband Rev. Norbert of Emporia, KS, Ryan Riekenberg and wife Marcia of Hanover, Robyn Riekenberg and wife Rhonda of Beatrice, NE, and Regina Pralle and husband Jon of Hanover; sister, Bernice Wieters of Lanham, KS; brother and sister in law, Kermit and Rose Riekenberg of Hanover; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
