Bernice May (Duensing) Luedders, 86, of Herkimer, KS, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church north of Bremen. Rev. David Linkugel officiated. The organist for the service will be her grandson, Luther Gulseth. The pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Tim Luedders, Jared Luedders, Matt Luebbe, Andy Luedders, Mark Ramel, Luther Gulseth, Josh Gordon, Chris Gordon and Jon Naaf. Burial was in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Bernice was born on Wednesday, March 20, 1929 to Fred and Irma (Stunkel) Duensing in Brighton, CO. In 1946, Bernice and her family moved to Marshall County. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1947. After graduation, she worked as a teller at Citizens State Bank. Bernice then met Helmuth Herman Luedders, who worked for her uncle, Valentine Duensing. They were joined together as one on Sunday, April 24, 1949 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. They raised their family and were dairy farmers north of Herkimer for many years. Bernice was active in her community as a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and as a 4-H community leader. She especially enjoyed her volunteer work with the Lutheran Braille Workers, for 40 years, as well as gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister Eileen (Duensing) Linkugel. Survivors include her seven children, Larry (Ann) Luedders, Steeleville, IL; Wayne (Norma) Luedders, Herkimer, KS; Diane (Lee) Luebbe, Seward, NE; Virginia (Al) Gulseth, Alma, AR; Lynnette (Gary) Gordon, Tipton, IN; LuAnne (Tom) Ramel, Lincoln, NE; Glenda (Ron) Naaf, Beatrice, NE; two brothers, Eldor (Velma) Duensing, Bremen, KS and Leroy (Anita) Duensing, Baileyville, KS; brother-in-law, Harold Linkugel, Bremen, KS; sister-in-laws, Wilma Moon, Beatrice, NE; Mildred Luedders, Pawnee City, NE; Leona (Fred) Maddox, Lincoln, NE; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Braille Workers Inc., and Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
