Janel Ann Zanker

Janel Ann Zanker, 53, of Marysville, KS, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS, after complications from ovarian cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 21, at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, IA, at a later date. Janel was born December 7, 1961 at Boone, IA, daughter of Gerald and Carol (Ross) Zanker. She graduated from Jewell High School in Jewell, KS and attended Colby Community College in Colby, KS, and Southwest Community College in Creston, IA. Janel worked in food service at the Hanover Hospital and Pizza Hut. She enjoyed meeting people and gathering for family events. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. Janel also enjoyed reading, genealogy, classic cars, University of Kansas Basketball, playing the piano, local history and Pearl Harbor history. She was an eye donor for those in need. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Marysville. Survivors include her parents, Gerald and Carol Zanker, Marysville; sisters, Barbara (Todd) Gillman, Knoxville, TN, and Pamela Parkins, Crawford, NE, and also her aunts, uncles, cousins, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
