Mark E. Kuckelman, 89, Axtell, KS, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville, KS. Visitation was Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 6 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Albert Hauser and Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. The pallbearers were Colin Griffin, Daniel Lierz, Geoff Alonso, Kelton Kuckelman, Andrew Kuckelman and Mitchell Kuckelman. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mark was born June 10, 1925, at Frankfort, KS, son of Fred and Tillie (Engelken) Kuckelman. He worked for Firestone in Marysville for 32 years. After retiring he bought and sold windmills. On August 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rita Porting at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on August 21, 1998. On July 26, 2000, he was united in marriage to Teresa (Marksman) Burton. She survives. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet on August 2, 1964; and siblings, Lucille Preston, Paul Kuckelman, John Kuckelman and Danny Kuckelman. Other survivors include his children, Ruth (Terrence) Griffin, Kansas City, MO, Pam (Bob) Lierz, Marsha (Robin) Golden, Teresa (Gregg) McKinney, all of Topeka, Mike (Phyllis) Kuckelman, Wichita, Mary Jane (Jim) Lauer, Eudora, KS, Kent (Carol) Kuckelman, Axtell, Craig (Mickie) Kuckelman, Overland Park; nine Burton step children; siblings, Mary Mueting, Seneca, Rozella (Virgil) Ronnebaum, Axtell, Kathleen Gravenstein, LeNore (Walt) Stumpf, and Albert (Sharon) Kuckelman, all of Topeka; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell.
