Leo Paul Pacha, 79, of Marysville, Kansas, died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The Rev. James Shaughnessy officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ and sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Ron Scheer, Steve Pacha, Rob Pacha, Arthur Pacha, Allen Nugent and Mike Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Nester and Melvin Sedlacek. Burial was in the Pecenka Cemetery near Bremen. Leo Paul Pacha was born February 28, 1929 at Marysville, the son of Vincent and LeNora (Rombeck) Pacha. He graduated from Marysville High School. Leo worked at the Co-op and cheese factory before buying his service station, Pacha’s DX, which he operated and was a mechanic from 1959 until 1981. He also trimmed trees, mowed yards, delivered groceries and worked at the Marysville brush disposal site from 2000 until 2007. He enjoyed serving two terms on the City Council from 1989 to 1995, liked hunting, fishing, continued to enjoy working in his garden, repairing vehicles and lawn mowers. Each year he looked forward to the Pacha family reunions. In 1952 he was married to Geneva Meyer. In 1977 he married Kay C. Nugent. She survives. Other survivors also include three daughters, Dixie Johnson of Beatrice, NE, Eileen Hackley of Junction City, KS, and Cindy Wilson of Euless, TX; two sons, Louis Pacha of Blue Rapids, KS, and Rusty Pacha of Tecumseh, NE; five brothers, Albert Pacha, Bernard Pacha, and Raymond Pacha, all of Marysville, Art Pacha of Bremen, KS, Leonard Pacha of El Paso, TX; three sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Rapid City, SD, Gertrude Anderson of Marysville, and Patricia Funke of Fargo, ND; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Pacha; one brother, Ted Pacha; and one sister, Viola Reynolds. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
