Loretta Josephine Schroeder, 92, Hanover, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation was Friday, May 22, from Noon until 8:00 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Father David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Ave Maria”, and “Here I Am Lord”. The pallbearers were Ted Bruna, Vince Bruna, Alan Bruna, Don Schuessler, Jim Sandman and Shorty Goeckel. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Hanover. Loretta was born August 25, 1922, in rural Washington County to Joseph and Josephine (Goeckel) Koehler. On June 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to Francis Schroeder at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. They were blessed with two children, Connie and Larry. Loretta and Francis owned and operated Schroeder Hy-Klas Grocery and Loretta had a ceramic business in Hanover. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, St. John’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis in 1986; parents; and brother, Edward Koehler. Survivors include daughter, Connie (Edwin) Ryser, Kansas City, MO; son, Larry (Kay) Schroeder, Platte City, MO; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
