Mary Ann Habr, 75, of Hanover, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Hanover Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 10, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, January 9, at the church. Father Jim Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Gina Miller played the organ while the church choir sang “Lords Prayer”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Be Not Afraid”, “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearers were John Jueneman, George Stohs, Doug Jueneman, Dan Jueneman, Steve Jueneman and Charles Hamilton. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mary Ann was born September 13, 1933 at Marysville, KS, the daughter of Lawrence and Alice (Pacha) Mullen. She grew up in the Hanover area and graduated from Hanover High School. She helped her family run Moon's Cafe in Hanover. On April 25, 1956 she married Joseph "Pep" Habr at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Mary Ann traveled and lived many places with her husband while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. During this time she was active in the Officers' Wives' Club. After "Pep" retired, they moved back to the Hanover area in the mid 70's. She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Hanover and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Pep" Habr on December 17, 2004; one daughter, Pamela Sue Oehm on March 26, 2008; five brothers, Francis "Bud" Mullen, Donald "Moon" Mullen, Richard Mullen, Leonard Mullen and Gilbert Mullen; and three sisters, Pat Laue, Laura Echart and Estella Kane. Survivors include one son, Joe Habr of Princeton, KS; and two sisters, Jean Ham of Marysville and Connie Hamilton and husband Charles of Winona, MN; and four grandchildren, Alena Shortle, Katie Oehm, Jodi Habr and Casey Habr. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
