Helen Joan (Lynch) Vering, 88, of Marysville, KS, passed to our Father in Heaven on May 22, 2015, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Marcel “Mark” in 2005. She was born July 23, 1926, in Pawnee City, NE, to Henry and Gertrude Lynch. She was the 3rd of 5 children. Shortly after, the family moved to Marysville where Helen later graduated from Marysville High School in 1944. After working for the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha during the war, Helen returned to Marysville and married her high school sweetheart, Mark, on June 3, 1946. Helen and Mark farmed north of Blue Rapids and later west of Marysville, where they raised hogs, registered Angus cattle and crops. Helen’s passion in life was her family of 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was a 4-H cooking leader for 16 years and loved attending her kid’s activities. She was also a member of St. Gregory’s Church, St. Gregory’s Quilting and Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Past Commander’s Wives, the DAR and past member of the Moose Club and Country Club. She was also an RSVP senior volunteer, a member of the Marshall County Historical Society, several card groups and a member of the Schroyer Club since 1948. After Mark retired, he and Helen enjoyed playing cards, dancing and visiting with family. Besides Mark, Helen is preceded in death by her brother Bobby Lynch and sister Kathryn Lynch and is survived by her brothers Jack Lynch and Jim Lynch, wife Joan, and sister-in-law, Donna Vering. Helen is also survived by her daughter, Kathy (Bob) Scott, Denver, CO, and grandchildren: Niki (David) Maclean, Amy (Bryan) Cook, and Taylor Scott; son, Greg (Tami) Vering, Marysville, and grandchildren: Brandon (Tracy) Vering, Alicia (Nick) Pecenka, and Shelley (Brian) Patenaude; son, Kevin (Jeanne) Vering, Beloit, KS, and grandchildren: Kendra (Matt) Lay and Kyle Vering; daughter, Janelle (Kevin) Burlin, Stillwell, KS, and grandchildren: Jacob (Meleah) Burlin and Brianne Burlin; and son, Chris (Kim) Vering, Lenexa, KS, grandchildren: Courtney, Caleb, Devin, and Jesse. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, at the church. Burial was in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gregory’s Catholic School, 207 North 14th, Marysville, KS 66508.
