Norbert Willard Heuer

Norbert W. Heuer, 81, of Hanover, KS, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Hanover Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Trinity Lutheran Church north-east of Hanover. Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp played the organ while the congregation sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd I'll Not Want" and "Let Us Ever Walk With Jesus". Soloist David Heuer sang "The Old Rugged Cross". Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Behrens, Dennis Minge, Rusty Behrends, Larry Lohse, Robert Lohse and Darrell Doebele. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Bruna, Melvin Lohse, Loren Wollenberg, Butch Bruna, Lloyd Wetter and Vernon Nieman. Norbert was born June 14, 1927 near Hanover, the son of Ernst and Vera (Luedders) Heuer. He served the U.S. Army in Germany. On April 6, 1953 he married Olga Kruse at Trinity Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2008. Norbert began farming before working for the Hanover Co-op Elevator, Co-op gas station, Richter Pallets and Mueller Sand & Gravel. He was a member of the Horseshoe Farmers Band and American Legion. He served as the Trinity Lutheran Church Chairman and Trinity PTL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Walter Heuer; and two sister-in-laws, Elnora Heuer and Ruth Heuer. He is survived by one daughter, Marcia Riekenberg and husband Ryan of Hanover; one brother, Victor Heuer of Hanover; two grandchildren, Travis and Wendy Heuer of Hanover; one brother-in-law, Ed Leseberg of Wymore, NE; and one sister-in-law, Lorena Leseberg of Hanover. A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of the mortuary.
