Laura Dorthea Brodecker, 88, Fairbury, NE, formerly of Marysville, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Heritage Home in Fairbury. A service was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Dr. Roger Baskerville officiated. The song was “Holes in the Floor of Heaven.” Pallbearers were Earl Busing, Ed Kabriel, Vince O’Toole, Delmo Fragel, Chris Davis and Gayle Peterson. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial was in Marysville Cemetery. Laura Brodecker was born September 24, 1920, at Boelus, NE. She graduated from Boelus High School in 1940. On December 7, 1941, she married Dean Thomas. On August 10, 1956, she married Kenneth Brodecker at Holton. She worked in children’s day care. They lived in Holton then moved to Marysville. In 2007, she moved to Fairbury to be near her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Lori Busing of Fairbury; son, Dean Thomas of Marysville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ed, Vick, Otto, Norman and Jesse Sorensen; sisters, Carrie Hansen, Rose Maixner, Marie Hackbart and Myrtle Hedglin.
