Rose M. Riekenberg, 73, Hanover, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Blue Rapids. A service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 17, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. The Rev. Jill Rettig officiated. Mae Nieman played the organ while soloist David Heuer sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Randy Brown, Jeff Brown, Bill Wetter, Steve Wetter, Ryan and Robyn Riekenberg. Visitation was Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hanover Mortuary. Burial was in the Hanover Cemetery. Rose Riekenberg was born December 30, 1935, at Home, KS, the daughter of George and Verina Openlander Brown. She married Kermit Riekenberg. He survives. She and her husband were owners of Ricky’s Café, Hanover. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, making wreaths and wedding cakes and other arts and crafts. Other survivors include daughter, Pamela Bergman of Belton; brothers, George Brown of Cedar Hill, MO, Harold Brown of Beatrice, Wayne Brown of St. Louis; sister, Evelyn Jones of Cedar Hill; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, infant James in 1968 and John Flear, in 2003; brothers, Earl Brown, Darrell Brown and Melvin Brown; sisters, Myra Cumro and Velma Frauenfelder.
