Valeria C. Hermesch

Valeria C. Hermesch, 88, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, at the church. Father Anthony Putti officiated. Cindy Voet played the organ and Paula Landoll-Smith and Mary Ann Bower were the singers. The music included “You Are Mine”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “Ave Maria” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”. The pallbearers were Joel Bicknell, Derek Maltbie, Teddy Reiser, David Keating, James Herrman and Doug Roudybush. Burial was in the church cemetery. Valeria was born in Marshall County on October 8, 1920 to Henry and Florence (Kramer) Voet. She graduated from St. Malachy’s Catholic grade school and from Marysville High School in 1939. She was married to Frank Hermesch in May of 1940. She was a homemaker. Valeria lived in Marshall County most of her life except from 1940 to 1953 when she lived in Nemaha County. She was a member of the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and Quilters of St. Gregory’s. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Maltbie of Wichita and Jane Bicknell of Topeka; one son, Lynn Hermesch and wife Inez of Home, KS; one brother, Leonard Voet of Beatrice, NE; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Marilyn Hasenkamp; grandson, John Hasenkamp; two infant sons, Mark and Richard; parents, Florence and Henry Voet; sister, Eileen Hermesch; and brother Francis Voet.
