Dora E. Gross, age 61, of Marysville, KS, died June 28, 2015 at Cambridge Place Nursing Home. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday June 30, 2015 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Fr. Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Organist was Rosemary Forst and the choir sang “Come to Me”, “Peace is Flowing like a River”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art.” Dora was born February 6, 1954 to Florian and Veronica Herrman Gross. She graduated from Hays High School and earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in math education from Fort Hays State University. She moved to Marysville and taught math at the high school for thirty-seven years. Dora was a Kayettes sponsor for thirty years and a longtime scorekeeper at the boys and girls varsity basketball games. She liked sponsoring school dances, reading and embroidery work. Dora was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, was song leader, sang in the choir, played the guitar for the Youth Choir and was their director. She loved spending Christmas with her family and attending Midnight Mass. Survivors include her sisters: Nancy Brungardt of Hays, Agnes Christian of Ness City, Cindy Kuhn of Munjor, Ks. and Myra Wardon of Hutchinson, Ks. Dora was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial fund is established and the family will designate later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
