Michael James Kennedy, 48, of Frankfort, KS, passed away on July 1, 2015 at the Salina Regional Medical Center in Salina, KS, surrounded by his wife and family. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 5 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 6 at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Daniel Schmitz and Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. The servers were Garrett Dalinghaus, Caden Dalinghaus, and Grady Fox. The musicians were Jeanie Gerstner, Lynn Bramhall, Jenna Haverkamp, Alicia Haverkamp, and Jared Daniels. Music included “Never Alone”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Lord Lead Me Home”, and “Here I Go Again”. Private burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. “Norm”, as friends knew him, was born May 25th, 1967 to William James and Clarita “Tom” (Dalton) Kennedy in Onaga, KS. Mike was anything but the ‘norm.’ He had the ability to take over a room if he wanted to while laughter of friends and strangers followed him around as if it was part of him. He possessed a great sense of humor and a contagious love for his wife, kids, and grandson, as well as life itself. He enjoyed spending time with his family, country cruising, taking care of his yard, and being with friends in his shed. Mike graduated from Frankfort High School in 1985. He married Melissa Heiman on May 23rd, 1992. For 26 years, Mike worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved his work and loved his coworkers even more, who were near and dear to him. Survived by his wife, Melissa, of the home; daughter, Kelsey and grandson Sutton, Frankfort; daughter, Jordan; and son, Trenton, both of Frankfort; his father, Bill (Sandy) Kennedy, Sun City West, AZ; sister, Lori (Gary) Griffin, Louisburg, KS; brother, John (Anissa) Kennedy, Manhattan, KS; as well as nine nieces and nephews, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Clarita “Tom” Kennedy in 2007. Memorials are suggested to the Michael Kennedy Memorial Scholarship, and may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
