Terrence "Terry" O'Neil

Terrence E. (Terry) O’Neil, 67, of Beattie, KS, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home. Visitation was Sunday, July 26, from noon until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27 at St. Malachys Catholic Church in Beattie. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. The musicians were Laura O’Neil, Patty Germer, and Kelsey Goodwin. Music included “Here I Am Lord”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagle’s Wings”, “You Are Mine”, and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Steve O’Neil, Shawn O’Neil, Scott O’Neil, Shane O’Neil, Stuart O’Neil, and Dusty O’Neil. The honorary pallbearers were Arlin Krebs, Dave Karnowski, John Augustus, and Blaine Smith. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery north of Beattie. Terry was born to Timothy and Lois (Sunderland) O’Neil on November 2, 1947 at Axtell. He graduated from Beattie High School in 1965 and Kansas State Teachers College in 1971. Terry worked for Hill’s Dog Food, Topeka, Fleming Foods and John A. Brown in Oklahoma. Terry farmed in the Axtell and Beattie areas. He worked as an accountant at Blue Valley Telephone and later became General Manager of Blue Valley Telecommunications, retiring in 2007. Terry enjoyed hunting, playing cards, telling stories and farming. On March 23, 1967, he was united in marriage to Margaret Van Dorn. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Lois O’Neil, Beattie; sons, Steve O’Neil, Beattie, Shawn O’Neil, North Platte, NE, Scott O’Neil, Axtell, Shane O’Neil, Beattie, Stuart O’Neil, Frankfort; daughters, Sheri Brooks, Emporia, Shianne Miller, Germany; brothers, Tom O’Neil, Marysville, Doug O’Neil, Beattie, Tim O’Neil, Overland Park, Dan O’Neil, Beattie; sisters, Peggy Unruh, Katy, TX, Cathy LeSage, Marysville; and fourteen grandchildren. His father preceded him in death. A memorial fund is established in his name and will be designated by the family at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
