Ebba Elizabeth "Betty" Shubkagel, 81, of Frankfort, KS, died late Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Wamego City Hospital. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Pastor Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Moogie Roeder played the organ while the congregation sang "I Come to the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Steve Gleason sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow". Honorary pallbearers were Chris Shubkagel, Eric Shubkagel, Greg Hopper, Garth Hopper and Rod Tolle. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Frankfort. Betty was born on September 11, 1927 on a farm near Marysville, the daugther of Axel and Ebba (Seajburg) Hanson. On March 27, 1948 she married Robert E. Shubkagel at her parents home east of Frankfort. He survives. Betty worked for the Civil Service in Topeka, KS and Washington, DC. She also worked with her husband and together they ran B&J Derby gas station in Frankfort until retiring in 1986. After retiring she and her husband traveled to Mesa, Arizona each winter for 15 years. She was a member of many clubs and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, painting pictures and carving wood. Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Rousselle and husband Ken of Loveland, CO; one son, Steve Shubkagel and wife Mary of Frankfort; one sister, Julia Thompson of Scottsdale, AZ; one brother, Arrvid Hanson of Colorado Springs, CO; and six grandchildren, Chris Shubkagel and Eric Shubkagel, both of Lincoln, NE, Laura Shubkagel of Frankfort, David Rousselle of Loveland, CO, Dan Rousselle of Nappa, ID, and Darrin Rousselle of Sterling, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Axel Hanson. Memorials may be made to the Frankfort Community Care Home of the Frankfort Ambulance and sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
