Leonard C. Bargmann, 93, Marysville, died September 2, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, September 4 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 5, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Leonard was born August 1, 1922 near Herkimer, KS, to Herman and Mary (Ewert) Bargmann. On August 13, 1922, he was baptized at Immanuel (Hermansburg) Lutheran Church north of Bremen by Rev. A.C. Traugott. On April 9, 1936, he was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Herkimer by Rev. H.W.E. Buss. Leonard attended Holloway Public and Zion Lutheran School at Herkimer and graduated from Marysville High School in 1940. On March 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Reita Scheibe at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville. They were the proud parents of three children, Diane, David, and Derrold. Leonard farmed and worked for Larabee Mills, Kane Construction, U.P. Railroad and did road maintenance for Herkimer Township. In 1971, they moved to Manhattan and to Topeka in 1979, where Leonard worked for the Department of Transportation as a Materials Inspector. He retired from KDOT, March 1, 1985. His hobbies were fishing, traveling, reading, woodworking, playing cards and watching the Royals. He loved visiting with people, telling jokes and was a Kansas State University fan. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Leonard was very active in churches and held many offices. He was a member of Zion Lutheran, Herkimer, St. Luke’s Lutheran, Manhattan, St. John’s Lutheran, Topeka and Mt Calvary Lutheran, Marysville. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Alvin Bargmann, Roland Bargmann; sisters, Viola (Blondie) Breeding, Erna Bargmann, Donna Graham, Nelda Ungerer, Darlene Gillilan; and a granddaughter, Michele (Shelly) Schroller. Survivors include his wife, Reita; children, Diane (Dennis) Schroller, Marysville, David (Reeta) Bargmann, Topeka, Derrold (Pat) Bargmann, New Braunfels, TX; grandchildren, Eli Bargmann, Doug Schroller; and great grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Liam, Matthew, Katelynn and Joshua. A memorial fund is established in his name and the family will designate later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
