Deloris May Schwarz, 82, of Marysville, KS, passed away September 5, 2015 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation is Monday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 8 at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Deloris was born June 24, 1933, the fifth child of Clark and May Hoard Adkins, near Dunbar, Nebraska. She attended Grade School at a number of rural schools in eastern Nebraska and in Nebraska City. Deloris was baptized in the Christian Church in Nebraska City, NE, July 18, 1943, and became a life-long member and active participant in the Christian Church. She was a 5th generation member of the Christian Church tracing through her mother back to great-great-grandparents Elisha and Rebecca Carr Coleman in the mid 19th century. At her death Deloris was an Elder Emeritus in the First Christian Church of Marysville. She entered High School at Stahan, Iowa, in 1946 and graduated from Silver City High School in 1950. In the fall of 1950 Deloris entered Manhattan Bible College in Manhattan, Kansas. There she met Victor Schwarz and they were married on Dec. 30, 1952. In the spring of 1953 she received a Certificate of Christian Education from MBC when Victor received his B. A. in Bible. They moved to Enid, Oklahoma, for Victor to continue his studies. There two children were born: Susan and Ronald. She accompanied her husband to Arnett, OK, every weekend and in the summer for 3 years as he preached at the Christian church there. When Victor completed his Seminary studies the family moved to Murray, Nebraska. Deloris assisted in the work for the Churches at Murray and Weeping Water for the next 6 years and also gave birth to their son, Thomas. In 1963 the family moved to Nelson, Nebraska, and began serving the Christian Churches at Nelson and Edgar. Deloris took an active part in both Churches as well as in Cub Scouts and 4-H. While there Victor's niece Denise Bigger joined the family and became a 4th child. In 1979 another move was made to Smith Center, KS. In the Christian Church there she taught in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, directed a children's choir, and organized an after school program for the children each week at the church. With Victor's retirement in 1993 came a move to Marysville, KS. Deloris opened her own craft business called Wood'n Strings and for 5 years pursued the craft show circuit going as far at Omaha and Dodge City. When her health forced her to retire from the shows she continued to crochet many afghans for the family and also for new babies at the hospital. Because of continued declining health she moved into Cambridge Place Nursing Home in Marysville, KS, in April of 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Lee and Bob; and one sister, Virginia. Those remaining who will miss her very much are her husband, Victor; children, Susan and husband Ken Goyen, Athens, Georgia, Ron and wife Tina, Willis, Virginia; Tom and wife Kathy, Independence, Kansas, and Denise and husband Kyle Long, Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
