Mary Maxine Brozek, 83, Lincoln, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at her home. Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26 at the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, KS. Rev. Lori Persigehl will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Tonee Owen, Jodi Pappada, Michael Hensley, Cole Grote, Zachary Reyes and Taylor Broaddus. Mary was born in rural Ellsworth County on June 11, 1932 to Selva and Bertha (Yordy) Bradford. On January 27, 1978, she was united in marriage to Harold Brozek at Salina. Mary worked as a custodian for over 20 years in area high schools. Mary loved goats, Princess (her Pomeranian), and fed and cared for stray cats. She really liked dancing and when Long Tall Texan started playing, get out of the way, because she was the first on the dance floor. Mary was an excellent cook and had an extensive cook book collection. She enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. She loved to dress up and would coordinate everything from head to toe, hats, jewelry, clothing, shoes and handbags. Leopard print was a big favorite of hers. Every summer she would have a wonderful garden. She even made her tomato stands from small tree branches. In the winter she took care of the wood burner and would split the logs herself. She even told her grandsons, “Don’t you be splitting that wood, that’s my job.” Mary is survived by her husband of 37 years; and many other family members and friends.
