Marjory Mitchell, 94, formerly of Summerfield, Kansas, died Monday, October 6, 2015 at Country Place Senior Living in Marysville, Kansas. Funeral services will held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church in Summerfield, Kansas Visitation will be on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Barneston Cemetery. Marjory was born June 30, 1921 at Lebanon, KS to Ralph and Anna (Shivley) Kelley. Marjory lost her mother when she was eight years old. Her father remarried Zula Yeaney and the family moved to Kanarado, where Marjory attended Kanarado High School. There she enjoyed math classes and playing basketball. The family moved to Garnett, where she met and married Donald Mitchell on December 24, 1938. Marjory helped with the farming operation along with caring for their five daughters. The family had a farm sale in 1951 and moved to Herington, where they joined Our Savior Lutheran Church. Donald worked for the Standard Oil Company, Alma and was transferred to Summerfield in 1954. Marjory joined her husband in their agri business, Mitchell’s Service, as it grew. Marjory enjoyed raising her family, was an excellent seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed her many friends, volunteering at First Lutheran Church and took care of the altar for many years. Survivors include her daughters, Rosalie (John) Meybrunn, Summerfield, Sherry (James) Scott, Summerfield, Alice (Ron) Green, Marysville, Jeanne (Douglas) Murdock, Marysville; son-in-law, Nick Lewis, Axtell; thirteen grandchildren, Linda Thomas, Laura Schell, Mary Smith, Jon Meybrunn, Jeff Lewis, Debbie Dressman, Dawn Scott, Amber Pacha, Carol Green, Chuck Green, Fred Gee, Douglas Gee, Jeanette McElroy, twenty nine great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Donald; daughter, Mary brother William; sister, Donna; and son-in-law, Stuart Gee. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, Summerfield. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
