Thomas "Tom" L. Huffman, 86, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A graveside funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 12 at the Marysville City Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated. Military Honors were provided by the Marysville American Legion. Tom was born October 7, 1929 in Washington County, KS, to Thomas and Gladys (Lee) Huffman. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. On June 17, 1956, he married Pauline Wohlbrandt at the Christian Church in Washington, KS. Tom worked as a cement finisher for Hall Brothers Construction in Marysville for 44 years. After retiring he worked part-time for Marysville Ready Mix when they had large pours. He attended the First Christian Church in Marysville and rarely missed a Sunday service. Tom would help keep the hedges trimmed, lawn mowed, and would help prepare the soup on Soup Day and wash the dishes. Tom enjoyed keeping his yard trimmed and mowed, and keeping his vehicles clean and polished and would wipe his truck down every day. He was a hardworking man, faithful husband, and a good father. Tom loved going fishing, spending time with little children, and country music. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Bruce Huffman in 1993; sisters, Betty Boerger, Doris Szopenske, Barbara Madsen, Janet Hollmann, Mary Lou Huffman; and brothers-in-law, William Szopenske, Robert Boerger, Reuben Madsen, Dick Woods, Verlin Hildebrandt and Harold Wohlbrandt. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; son, David Huffman, Marysville; sisters, Donis Woods, Taos, NM, Cora Lee (Wilmer) Rahe, Hiawatha, Sharon (Junior) Werner, Washington, Karen Hildebrandt, Rossville, KS; brothers-in-law, Ernest Hollman, Willamina, OR, Larry (Neola) Wohlbrandt, Plymouth, NE, Jack (MaryAnn Keesecker) Wohlbrandt, Greenleaf; and sister-in-law Elaine Wohlbrandt, Spokane, WA. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
