Hazel A. Yaussi Breeding Potter, 94, of Marysville died at the Marysville Hospital on March 11, 2009. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Marysville. The Rev. Marilyn Wullschleger officiated. Carol O’Neal played the organ while Pat Breeding sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Lord Is My Shepherd”. Pallbearers were Curtis Breeding, Josh Breeding, Kelly Milner, Dave Anderson, Heath Talbot and Scott Wilson. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Hazel was born near Marysville on March 5, 1915 the daughter of Rudolph and Elizabeth Rickert Yaussi. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1932 and attended business school in Topeka. On February 23, 1934 she married Don Breeding of Marysville. They farmed and raised registered Hereford cattle on Tootle Ranch in Marshall County. In 1952 they moved to Marysville. They were the parents of two daughters and one son. She was a member of Do Good Club, P.E.O., Postscript, and Beta Sigma Phi. She was active in the Memorial Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday school for ten years and serving as a deaconess and elder. She volunteered at the Marysville Public Library and was employed there for several years. She and Don traveled to the Philippines in 1975 to visit their son while he was stationed there with the Air Force. After the death of her first husband she married Dr. William Potter of Charlotte, North Carolina. She lived there with him for 25 years and they traveled to Europe several times. In Charlotte, she helped form a new chapter AU of P.E.O. She returned to Marysville in 2007 after her husband sustained a fracture from a fall. She was the third resident at Marysville's Country Place assisted living. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Don Breeding; two brothers, Glenn and Thomas Yaussi; and one great-grandson. She is survived by her husband, William Potter of Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Sharon Milner of Grain Valley, MO, Dixie Talbot of Marysville; one son, Curtis Breeding of Bloomington, MN; one step-daughter, Dr. Patricia Potter of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Marysville Public Library, or the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
