Jim Boss, 68, Marysville, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at home. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville. A wake service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Jim Boss was born July 13, 1940, at Marysville, the son of Francis T. “Frank” and Margaret E. Griffiths Boss. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1958 and graduated from Kansas State University with a business education degree. He learned to fly before he had a driver’s license. He married Darlene Trahan on July 28, 1962, at Miltonvale. He taught business education at Holton High School for 10 years and coached golf and cross country. He joined his brother, Greg, and father, Frank, in the family business and was dealer principal and president of Boss Motors, Inc., the Ford, Lincoln, Mercury automobile dealership in Marysville. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville Country Club, Chamber of Commerce, Top 20 Ford Sales Group and was a fourth degree knight of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, being with family and friends and his work. Survivors include his wife, Darlene of the home; sons, Patrick Boss of Manhattan, Michael Boss and wife Diane of Marysville, Jonathan Boss and wife Olga of St. Joseph, MO; two brothers, Gregory Boss of Marysville, and Richard Boss of Waterville; three sisters, Barbara Brooks of Wichita, Mary Horvath of Bakersfield, CA, and Janet McNeese of Manhattan; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of the mortuary.
