Herman "Hermie" E. Munstermann, 82, of Hanover, KS, passed away Friday, March 19, 2009 at Wichita, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church north-east of Hanover. Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp played the organ while David Heuer sang "How Great Thou Art" and the choir sang "My Course is Run". The congregation sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus". Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Rick Applegarth, Veryl Mueller, Dennis Hartig, Kenneth Munstermann, Stanley Mueller and Dale Adam. Honorary bearers were Robert Mueller, Donald Mueller, Larry Hartig, and Lawrence Minge. Herman was born November 18, 1926 at rural Hanover to Herman and Emma (Niemann) Munstermann. He was baptized November 28, 1926 at Trinity Lutheran by Rev. William Mahler and was confirmed on April 6, 1941. He attended the Trinity Lutheran School. He was a farmer and a stockman. Herman was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Mueller) Munstermann; three sons, Jerry Munstermann, Mark Munstermann and wife Kathy, all of Wichita, Bruce Munstermann and wife Julie of Auburn; two grandchildren, Brett and Hannah of Auburn; one brother, Arthur Munstermann of Hanover; and one sister, Erna Swartz of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bertha Hartig and Leona Adam; and brother, Alfred Munstermann. Hanover Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
