Dorothy M. Kraemer, 95, of Marysville, KS, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, at the Marysville City Cemetery. Dorothy was born May 28, 1913, at Home, KS, the daughter of G.W. and Amelia (Tangeman) Reinhardt. She grew up in Home and Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School. After graduating she worked as a legal secretary before her marriage to Melvin "Brudie" Kraemer on May 20, 1935. Dorothy was a homemaker while her husband ran the family hardware store in Marysville. In 1960 they moved to Corning, NY, where Brudie worked for Corning Glassworks. They lived there until 1971 when they returned to Kansas. Dorothy and Brudie traveled throughout the United States with the National Retail Hardware Association and also traveled to Spain and Portugal. She enjoyed volunteering with Marysville RSVP and was instrumental in preserving and beautifying the Koester House and Museum. She also enjoyed decorating her home, cooking, playing bridge and entertaining family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church where she was very involved in church activities. Dorothy lived at Cambridge Place's Assisted Living for 8 years and enjoyed the friendships she made with other residents and the dedicated staff. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 19, 2000; and parents. Survivors include one daughter, Kandyce Shortle and husband David of Sante Fe, NM; and one granddaughter, Morgan Shortle and husband Dr. Garrin Kimmell of Lawrence, KS. A memorial fund has been established to the Memorial Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
