Leta Mae Schilling, 76, of Seneca, KS, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Nemeha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, KS. Rev. Leo Strathman officiated. Moogie Roeder played the organ while Rheta Matson sang. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Scott Meade, Lucas Meade, Bobby Meade, James Dowd, Kristopher Dowd, Travis Feltner, Tracy Feltner, Billy Feltner, Raymond Feltner, Brandi Meade, Samantha Meade, Christina Wiley, Jennifer Matson, April Blagg, Jackie Peaser and Megan Feltner. Burial will be in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Leta was born August 14, 1932 at Frankfort, KS, the daughter of Joseph Warren and Frances Marie (Downing) Founds. After high school she would ride the train from Frankfort to Marysville where she worked as a waitress. She moved to Seneca over 25 years ago and enjoyed spending time reading, watching her grandchildren and preparing Sunday dinner for her family. She also enjoyed going to the Church of the Coming King where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Geraldine Founds and Fred J. Founds; two sisters, Verga Lee Schulte and Clara Belle Faulkner; and one grandson, Dallas Kerns. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Dowd and husband Chauncey of Frankfort, Terri Meade and husband Robert, and Lisa Meade and husband Bill, all of Centralia, KS; one son, Randy Feltner of Seneca; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will benefit the Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
