Marcella R. Koppes, 96, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at Beatrice, NE. Visitation was from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Hanover Mortuary, Hanover. Rosary was held at 7 p.m., Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Father David Metz and Father Robert Barnhill officiated. Janet Fritschi was organist and the hymns were “Be Not Afraid,” “On Eagles Wings,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “Here I Am Lord,” and “Song of Farewell.” Pallbearers were Joe Meier, Jay Hynek, Gary Rieth, Art Yonkey, Dennis White and Don Kramer. Honorary pallbearers were Lyle Wilsey, Nathan Wilsey, Jacob Hatfield and Michael Hatfield. Burial was in the church cemetery. Marcella was born to Joe and Rose (Siebenhaar) Kramer on September 15, 1919 at Hanover. She attended Bismarck Country School and Hanover High School. On April 30, 1947, Marcella was united in marriage to Clem A. Koppes. They were blessed with a son and two daughters. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker. Marcella was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and quilting. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Clem in 1983; son, Jim Koppes; and brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Gertrude Kramer. Survivors include daughters, Connie Hatfield, Beatrice, NE, Debbie (Lyle) Wilsey, Waverly, NE; sister, Loretta Schmidt, Buhler, KS; two grandsons, Michael (Michelle) Hatfield, Nathan Wilsey; great grandson, Jacob Hatfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary, Hanover, Kansas.
