Margaret Dittmar, 91, of Marysville, KS, and formerly of Lawrence, KS, passed Saturday, April 11 at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 15 at the Presbyterian Church in Marysville. The Rev. Marilyn Wullschleger officiated. Carol O'Neal played the organ while Pat Breeding sang "Amazing Grace" and "His Eye Is on the Sparrow". The pallbearers were Russell W. Dittmar, Jr., Waylin Dittmar, Matt Franko, Richard Dittmar, Robert Dittmar and Pat Gilmore. Burial followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Perry, KS at 3 p.m. Mary was born September 24, 1917 at Topeka, KS, the daughter of John and Hallie (Underwood) Dunigan. On September 3, 1945 she married Russell W. Dittmar. He preceded in death on March 3, 2005. While living in Lawrence they were members of the First United Methodist Church and attended Sunday School. She worked for at the KU Army ROTC office for many years. They were Williams’ Fund Donors to the University of Kansas where they enjoyed many years of KU basketball and football games. She wore her Kansas 2008 NCAA National Championship t-shirt proudly. She and Russell enjoyed bowling and square dancing. In their retirement years they took several sightseeing trips. They were a devoted couple. Margaret enjoyed knitting and taking care of flowers, particularly violets. Following the death of her husband she moved to Marysville to be with her son’s family. While living in Marysville she was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Helvering Center and the Hanover Hospital/LTC. Our family would like to especially thank all of the doctors and staff at the Hanover Hospital for the care she received and for making their time with her pleasant and dignified. Margaret made up a special place in our lives and she will forever be in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brother, John Dunigan. Survivors include one son, Russell W. Dittmar, Jr. and wife Lona of Marysville, KS; one granddaughter, Michal Kate Franko and husband Matt; one grandson, Weylin Dittmar and wife Kristin, all of Kansas City; and three great-granddaughters, Molly, Macey and Mackenzie; sister-in-law, Rita Dittmar; three nephews and their families in Illinois; one niece and her family in Topeka; and one nephew in Topeka. A memorial fund has been established to the Hanover Hospital Long Term Care. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
