Arvid Leon Weyer, 76, of Wymore, NE, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Lincoln, NE. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 20, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Donnie Hofman officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings”. The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art” and “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”. The pallbearers were Fran White, Daniel Aden, Keith Weyer, Brian Huninghake, Leon Zimmerman and David Zimmerman. Burial was in Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery west of Barneston, NE. Arvid was born July 22, 1932 on a farm near Barneston, NE, the son of Henry and Anna (Zimmerman) Weyer. The Rev. N.C. Schultz brought him into the Lord’s family through Holy Baptism on August 2, 1934. His sponsors were Fred and Elenora Zimmerman. He reaffirmed that baptismal faith through the Rite of Confirmation on January 11, 1959 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville, by the Rev. W.R. Maurer. Arvid graduated from Barneston High School and was a Korean War Veteran. He farmed all his life and helped his son with their iron business. On April 28, 1959 he married Evelyn May Aden at St. John’s Lutheran Church west of Barneston. This marriage was blest with two children, Ronald Henry and Mary Lou. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the Barneston American Legion since 1954. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald Weyer. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one son, Ronald Weyer of Wymore, NE; one daughter, Mary Huninghake and husband Leo of Frankfort, KS; two grandsons, Brian and Randy Huninghake; one sister, Darlene Barton of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Melvin Weyer of Beatrice, NE, and Arlyn Weyer of Wymore; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial fund has been established to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
