Lenora M. Bartek

Lenora M. Bartek, 90, of Marysville, died February 29, 2016 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 4 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Aurora, KS. Lenora was born February 19, 1926 on a farm near Delphos, KS, in Cloud County to Henry and Catherine (Lynch) Letourneau. She attended elementary school in Cloud and Clay County. The family moved to Idana and she graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1943. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Ralph Parry and moved to Marysville. They later divorced. Lenora married A.J. Bartek in 1963. Lenora graduated from Kansas State in 1957. She also attended Washburn College, Topeka, Austin Paey in Clarksville, TN, Kansas University and Fairbury College in Fairbury. Lenora was a teacher and taught country school at Swedesburg Lutheran School, King School, Centennial School, all in Clay County. After moving to Marysville, she taught at Sunrise School, Winifred School and retired from Marysville Junior High School after 27 years of teaching there. Lenora was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and the National Education Association. She enjoyed spending Christmas gatherings with family, reading and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.J. Bartek; sister, Julia Chartier; and brother, Leo Letourneau. Survivors include sister, Helen “Tommy” Kurz, Clay Center, KS; sister-in-law, Jerris Letourneau, Clay Center; and nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's School Endowment. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
