Arlene L. Feldhausen Deters, 92, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Frankfort Community Care Home, Frankfort, Kansas. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29 at the First Christian Church, Marysville with Rev. Jerry Zanker officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday, March 28 at Kinsley Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. Arlene was born on June 24, 1923 at Frankfort to Jess and Etta Mae (DeShazer) Elliott. She graduated from high school and attended Brown Mackey School of Business in Salina for two years. On October 24, 1947, she married Cleo Feldhausen. They owned and operated Feldhausen Sheet Metal and Heating for many years. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was later united in marriage to Lester Deters on June 25, 1994. During WWII, Arlene was a clerk for the Selective Service of Marshall County. She worked for Attorney R.L. Helvering for five years and was a librarian for the public library for eighteen years. Arlene was a member of the First Christian Church, a member of the choir and served as a deaconess. Arlene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Lodge and RSVP. She sang with the Barbershop Gals Singers. Being with family and friends, and music were her passions. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Cleo Feldhausen; and sisters, Levon Elliott and Mary Belle Tilley. Survivors include her husband, Lester Deters, Centralia; daughters, Vickie Feldhausen, Tempe, AZ, Phyllis Schwab, Goodyear, AZ; two grandsons, Corey Schwab and Travis Schwab; and four great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Meadowlark Hospice or the Frankfort Community Care Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
