Clemens "Jim" James Koppes, 59, of Hanover, KS, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Hanover Hospital. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 21, at the church. Father Jim Hoover & Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “On Eagles Wings”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace” and “Here I Am Lord". Pallbearers were Ken Rieth, Jay Hynek, Jeff Hynek, Gary Rieth, Mike White and Dennis White, Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. Jim was born March 21, 1950 at Marysville, KS, the son of Clemens and Marcella (Kramer) Koppes. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors include his mother, Marcella Koppes of Hanover; two sisters, Connie Hatfield of Beatrice, NE, and Debbie Wilsey and husband Lyle of Waverly, NE; two nephews, Michael Hatfield and wife Michelle of Crete, NE, and Nathaniel Wilsey of Waverly, NE; and one great-nephew, Jacob Hatfield of Crete. He was preceded in death by his father, Clemens August Koppes in 1983; and his grandparents. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
