Irene Wiegert, 89, of Brighton, CO, formally from Marysville, passed away in her home on May 18,2009. Visitation was Sunday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville where the family received friends between 6 and 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 1 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Lois Cohorst played the organ while the congregation sang "My Hope is Built", "On Eagles Wings", "It Is Well With My Soul" and "How Great Thou Art". Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Irene Maria Emma Sophia Holle was born February 17,1920, to George and Louise (Leseberg) Holle in Bremen, KS. She had two brothers, Arlin and Wilmer; and three sisters, Georgeanna (Sohl), Lorna (Schuster), and Linda (Friedrichs). She attended Bethlehem Parochial School and was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Stewarts' Beauty Academy as a licensed Cosmetologist, and worked as an Owner/Operator of her own shop for years. Later in life she worked for Kinsley Mortuary and also made custom draperies. Irene was very active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, where she held several offices, including President, and served on many committees at the local and state level. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and participated in many organizations. She was the Editor of the Kansas District Newsletter for years. On November 27, 1963, Irene married Chester Wiegert. Their children include one son, Frank Wiegert of Brighton, CO; step-children, Cynthia Ann Wiegert, Janet Kilpack, Betty Orr of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert Wiegert of Seneca, KS, Mary D'Hooge of Coal Valley, IL, & Rita Landers of Fountain, CO. There are 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, & 3 great great grandchildren. After her husband's passing in 1991, she remained in Marysville until 1999, when she moved to Colorado to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Chester; two brothers, Arlin and Wilmer; one sister, Georgeanna Sohl; two daughters, Cynthia Ann and Janet; one son-in-law, Dan Kilpack; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Wiegert; and three grandchildren, Chris Stevens Orr, Jeff Orr and Eddie Kilpack. Memorials can be made out to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
