In 1942, she graduated from Marysville High School. On December 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to B.K. “Buck” Overman. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2003. Ruth worked early on as a bookkeeper for Firestone and then J.C. Penney and was a Weight Watcher leader in Marysville for many years. Cahan Ballroom and the downtown American Legion Post were a couple of her favorite dance venues. She loved to crochet, cook and bake, especially angel food cakes, cookies and pies, for her neighbors. Spending time with family and attending grandchildren’s activities, was another real favorite. She and Buck could be seen on the top row of the bleachers at every Valley Heights sporting event their grandchildren participated in and were most always the first to arrive. High school state championships were no exception, whether it was Hays, Wichita of Manhattan. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Williams, Waterville; two grandchildren, Jennie (Shane) Larson, Arkansas City, Mike (Kristy) Williams, Wichita; and two great grandchildren, Cash Larson and Maylee Williams. Also niece, Pat (Bill) Weickert, Beatrice and daughters, Samantha and Jessica Weickert. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck; son, Kent Overman; and sister, Carolyn Walters. A memorial fund is established to the Marysville Depot Project. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
