Earl Edwin Schwarz, 88, died June 8, 2016 at the Frankfort Community Care Home, Frankfort. Visitation was 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, June 10 at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary with Gary Phillips officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Stewart, Joel Calovich, Ben Stewart, Sylvester Koch, Jason Buddenberg and Jeremiah Schwarz. Honorary pallbearers were Neil Dierking, Dave Schwarz, Arwayne Hill, Gerald Schwarz, Ralph Plegge and Larry Wullschleger. Burial was in Home Cemetery, Home, KS Earl was born August 27, 1927 to Edward and Olga Schwarz on their farm north of Home. He attended grade school at Hartman School, north of Home, and graduated from Marysville High School where he excelled track and field events. Earl was baptized, confirmed, and a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church in Home. He grew up living and working on the family farm and orchard. He served two years with the U.S. Army (Stateside) during the Korean Conflict, earning the rank of Corporal. He was especially proud of his service time and was a long standing member of the American Legion. After the war, Earl continued to farm with his parents and then eventually operated his own farming operation. On April 25, 1954 he married Alma Dierking at Herkimer, KS. They had three children, Kathleen, Allen, and Mary Jane. The family lived north of Home, running their dairy, hog, and farm operation. In 2010, Earl retired and moved to Beattie. In April 2016, he moved to the Frankfort Community Care Home. During his lifetime, Earl enjoyed gardening with his wife, Alma and processing smoked meats that they shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Even after his retirement he continued to grow a melon patch every year. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica, playing cards and many sporting activities. Earl won many bowling trophies and as a young man earned the nickname “Fireball” for his excellent baseball pitching skills. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. Other favorite activities included watching the Kansas City Royals and socializing at the Home gas station. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma; son, Allen; former daughter-in-law, Michelle Wiard; and four Al-Jaberi grandchildren, who rest in peace in Lincoln, NE. Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (Kurt) Stewart, Frankfort, and Mary Jane Al-Jaberi, Lincoln, NE; daughter-in-law, Linda Schwarz; former daughter-in-law, JoLynn Voet, Marysville; brother, Armand Schwarz; seven grandchildren, Jim (Jacquie) Stewart, Ben Stewart, Emily (Jason) Buddenberg, Amanda Jones, April (Joel) Calovich, Jeremiah and Jessica (Sylvester) Koch; and ten great grandchildren, Makenzie Stewart, Alex Buddenberg, Sabrina Buddenberg, Scarlett Buddenberg, Jabari (Alan) Jones, Ethan Calovich, Alyssa Calovich, Brody Calovich, Elias Calovich, Corbin Calovich, and Thaddeus Koch. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to the Home City Ball Park. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
