Eleanora C. Meier, 94, died June 5, 2016 at Country Place Senior Living in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday, June 12 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Eleanora was born April 8, 1922 at Hanover to Joseph and Catherine (Klecan) Nespor. They later moved to a farm by Lanham, NE and Eleanora attended grade school at Lanham and graduated from Odell High School. She attended the University of Nebraska and taught country school. On May 19, 1943, she was united in marriage to Leonard G. Meier at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odell. They made their home on a farm north of Hanover until they retired and moved into Hanover. Eleanora was a member of St. John’s Altar Society and served as an officer and group leader for many years. She served on the Hanover Library Board, the Washington County Extension Board, was a 4-H Foods leader and belonged to an Extension Unit for many years. Eleanora loved working on the farm, teaching, reading, embroidery, playing cards and working puzzles. She loved to cook and do canning. Most of all, she cherished her family and enjoyed doing anything and everything for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed doing things for people, she was a Eucheristic Minister for years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Eleanora was on the board when the Kloppenberg Center was built. Survivors include her daughters, Margaret (Keno) Henderson, Tomball, TX, Marion (Bill) Jinkens, Punta Gorda, FL, and Nancy (Robert) Kotinek, Lawrence, NE; sons, L. Joe (Susan) Meier, and Michael Meier, both of Hanover; sister, Alice (Louis) Martin, Monrovia, CA; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; brothers, Sylvester Nespor and Elmer Nespor; sisters, Elizabeth Nespor and Mary Ann Duensing; daughter-in-law, Ann Meier; and son-in-law, Gary Meusborn.
