Rosetta L. Havel, 94, of Linn, KS, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Linn Community Care Home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. The Rev. Jill Rettig officiated. Mae Nieman played the organ while the congregation sang “In The Garden” and “Old Rugged Cross”. The pallbearers were Ron Nutsch, Rick Blush, Alvin Kasper, Bill Holbrook, Ryan Allerheiligen and Richard Allerheiligen. Burial was in the Hanover City Cemetery. Rosetta was born on the farm near Hanover on May 15, 1915 to Henry and Marie Raber Cohrsen. She attended Charleston Country School and Hanover High School, graduating in 1932. Rosetta did sewing and quilting, cared for her parents and worked in the telephone office in Hanover. She was a life time member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Hanover. On April 2, 1960 she married Clarence Havel and moved to Topeka, KS. There she continued her love of being a seamstress and quilter. They moved to Linn in October of 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Clarence; niece, Marcella Holbrook of Washington; nephews, Mel Allerheiligen of Linn, KS, and Alvin Kasper of Salina, KS; six great-nieces and nephews; fourteen great-great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-great-nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice or to Zion Lutheran Church, Hanover. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
