Oretha Ruetti, 91, of Frankfort, KS, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Frankfort Community Care Home.A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort. Rev. Marilyn Wullschleger officiated.Organist Skip McMillen played prelude and postlude music. Steve Gleason played the guitar and sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "Amazing Grace".Pallbearers were Rich Ruetti, Paul Ruetti, Marshall Ruetti, Trey Ruetti, Corbyn Polzar, Hunter Polzar, Don Ford, Hayden Ford, Shawn Rose, Kevin Rose, Jedd and Jake Rose.Burial was in the Home Cemetery.Oretha was born March 6, 1918 on a farm southwest of Home, KS, the daughter of Louis and Dolly (Dalrymple) Oble. She attended Prairie View rural school and graduated from Marysville High School in 1935. She completed the Normal Training course and received a State teaching certificate and taught in several rural schools in Marshall County: Scully, Thomas, and Grimes. She attended classes at Kansas State during the summer.On April 26, 1938 she married George O. Ruetti. They lived on a farm and eventually moved to Frankfort in 1981.Oretha was a 4-H leader for the Junior Commando 4-H club, a charter member of the Conservative Homemaker Club, helped organize the Marshall County Historical Society and was on the board of the Frankfort City Library. She wrote the weekly column, "It Happened Here", for the Marysville Advocate for over 30 years. The Marshall County Historical Society published a book of her columns in 2002 bearing the same name.She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on September 13, 1992; parents; one brother; and one sister.Survivors include one son, Richard Ruetti and wife Patty of Frankfort, KS; one daughter, Georgia Polzar and husband John of Topeka, KS; one sister, Nina McMillan of Arcadia, FL; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.Memorials may be made to the Marshall County Historical Society or the Frankfort Library.
