Virginia Hynek, 89, of Hanover, KS, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Hanover Hospital. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 12, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. Pastor Jill Rettig officiated. Mae Nieman played the organ while the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings". Pallbearers were Rick Doebele, Loren Doebele, Lester Bruna, Ryan Doebele and Lavern Deobele. Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Virginia was born at Washington on February 15, 1920 to Albert And Evaline (Lee) Brown. She graduated from Washington High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Dale Thomas on November 24, 1938 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Dale died in February 1968. On April 28, 1973 she married Edward Hynek, who was her high school classmate. Virginia was a SRS clerk, owned cleaning ships in Geneseo, Kansas, Washington, Kansas and Greenleaf, Kansas. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She also loved to swim, her father owned the City swimming pool in Washington for many years. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harvey E. Brown; and a sister Vera Dickson. She is survived by her husband, Edward, of Hanover, Kansas; a son, Larry Thomas and wife Linda of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Kit Grant and husband Jeremy, Joyce Thomas, Bo Thomas, Tina Kelly; and 4 great grandchildren, Brendan, Kayli, and Emmy Grant and Justin Thomas.
