Michael D. Swearingen

January 16, 1978 — July 16, 2016

Michael D. Swearingen, 38, of Lincoln, NE, died July 16, 2016 at his home in Lincoln. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6 at the Hanover Cemetery. Michael was born January 16, 1978 at Marysville, KS, son of Phill and Charlotte (Meyer) Swearingen. He grew up in Marysville, Las Vegas, NV, and Beatrice, NE. He worked for Lipsey Construction in Lincoln, NE, before moving to Florida where he welded high steel structures. Michael moved back to Lincoln and worked for Lipsey Construction again. Michael’s family wants you to remember how he would make you laugh and the many silly things he did. Like the time he shaved the top of his head while working with the Lipsey crew because many on the crew were a little shy of hair on the tops of their heads…..The time some friends went to a concert in Omaha with him but due to a wrong turn they ended up at the Canadian border…..Rapping songs with his brothers and dad at family gatherings…..Going to the beach with his children and standing on lava rocks acting like the Kung Fu Kid. Michael had many loves including running heavy equipment for Lipsey Construction, old cars, BIG granite rocks, his children, his pets, and riding a skate board on his brother’s treadmill. His favorite saying was “It is what it is and life goes on”. Have a giggle to yourself with whatever funny memories you have of Michael. Survivors include his fiancé, Crystal Snyder; parents, Phill and Charlotte Swearingen, Hanover; children, Chevy and Oasis Swearingen, Terry and Zachary Snyder; foster daughter, Sincere Rudlaff; and brothers, Brian (Sheila) Swearingen, Timothy (Jody) Swearingen, both of Hanover, and James (Jeri) Swearingen, Oketo, KS. A memorial fund has been established. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Michael D.
