Darrel Germeroth passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 17 at the Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran Church northeast of Bremen, KS. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. Bev Crome played the organ while the congregation sang "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", and "What A Friend We Have Jesus". Pallbearers were Neil Wehling, Warren Drinkgren, George Cecrle, Ron Dodd, Kenny Waterman and Jim Clark. Burial was in the church cemetery. Darrel was born February 14, 1941 at Alexandria, NE, the son of Clarence and Norma (Lowe) Germeroth. He worked as a welder and farmed. He also worked for Hoover Industry in Beatrice from 1968-2003. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising goats and cats. Darrel was a 22 year member of A.A. and Hollenberg Fire Department. On August 19, 1961 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Rettig at the Zion State Line Church. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Sarah Germeroth of Hollenberg; one brother, Donald Germeroth of Pahlonega, GA; and one sister, Edith Plaugher of Manasses, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Richard. A memorial fund has been established in his name and will be designated at a later date.
