Dorothy "Jean" Clawson, 74, of Frankfort, KS, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS. Visitation was Friday, August 5, from noon until 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 6, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael McKee officiated. The musicians were Barbara Mathis and Steve Gleason. Music included “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross”. The pallbearers were David Hartsook, Keith Hartsook, Michael Bonewitz, Jeff Naaf, Jon Naaf, Joel Naaf, and Blake Behrens. The honorary pallbearers were Vivien Gude, Eddy Gude, Atticus Gude, Cameron Gude, Steve Gleason, Richard Stoll, Jason Behrens, Richard Smith, Wayne Mitchell, and Tom Regan. Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery. Jean was born October 6, 1941 at Kansas City, MO. Her parents were John and Dorothy Fern (Miller) Ensley. She grew up in Marshall County and moved to Marysville in 1957. In 1959, she graduated from Marysville High School and then graduated from Crum’s Beauty College in Manhattan. On December 11, 1960, she married Boyd "Dean" Clawson at the Oketo United Methodist Church. They moved to Frankfort. Jean owned and operated a variety shop and also a beauty salon out of her house. She and Dean also owned Clawson Printing, Town & Country Family Restaurant, and T&C Convertors from 1983 until retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church, Red Hats, Legion Auxiliary, and former member of the Legion Riders. Jean enjoyed her cats, riding motorcycles, going to Las Vegas, Tom Jones Concerts, Red Hat adventures, collecting wigs, and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Ensley; husband, Dean; and son, Todd Clawson. Survivors include her daughter, Debra Clawson, Frankfort; twin sister, Jane Burkhead, Marysville; grandchildren, Dyllon Holle and Alex Hoffman Ashby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial fund has been established to the Frankfort Fire and Ambulance. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
