Eileen Lorene Haas, 95, Marysville, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, August 15, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 16 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. Rev. Don Miller officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Saundra Haas sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Old Rugged Cross”, and “On Eagles Wings”. The pallbearers were Marcus Haas, Jerard Haas, Jason Throm, Travis Throm, Brian Haverkamp, and Lukas Byrd. The honorary pallbearers were Bruce Throm, Charlie Griswold, and Chris Roberts. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Eileen was born on October 29, 1920 at Hanover, KS, to Otto and Elsie (Bauer) Luehring. In 1938, she graduated from Marysville High School. On December 4, 1942, she married Edward Haas at San Bernardino, CA. While in California, she worked as a manager of records at the airbase. After returning to Marysville she worked as a bookkeeper for Haas Auto until retiring. Eileen volunteered for NEK-Cap, loved to be around and help children, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ and always willing to lend a hand when needed. Family gatherings, birthday celebrations and holidays were always important to her. She would decorate the house for all the holidays and loved attending family reunions to catch up. Eileen liked word search puzzles, cross stitch, counting cross stitch and attending auctions. She was an excellent cook and could turn leftovers into a gourmet meal. Baking pies was her favorite and could make several different kinds, but her apple pies were the best! Eileen would raise a garden and can the produce. She also raised flowers and in 1984, proudly received the Yard of the Month award, for all her hard work. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward in 2009; son, Gregory in 2014; an infant brother; and a grandson. Survivors include her son, Gary (Jeannie) Haas, Marysville; daughters, Jeanette (David) McClain, Sun City, AZ, and Diane (Bruce) Throm, Marysville; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
