Randy Joe Merrill, 49, of Frankfort, KS, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his residence with his family at his side. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Randy was born June 3, 1960 in Marysville, KS to Melvin and Elzeen (Fielding) Merrill. After his parents divorced he lived in various places but most of his childhood was spent in Trenton, NJ. As a teenager he moved back to Kansas to live with his father. He attended high school at Valley Heights in Blue Rapids, KS, graduating in 1978. After school he entered the work force and moved to Garden City, KS, to work at IBP. After Garden City, he moved back to Blue Rapids and worked at Landoll’s and Georgia Pacific until 2006 when he became ill. On September 6, 1997, he married Holly Lamb at Blue Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and spending time with his family. Randy also was the proud grandfather of Kenadi, Korben, and Konner Lamb and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include his wife, Holly; three sons, Randy Joe Merrill, Jason Lamb and wife Megan, and Justin Lamb; two daughters, Bethany and Shoshana Lamb; three grandchildren, Kenadi, Korben, and Konner Lamb, all of Frankfort, KS; stepmother, Karen Merrill of Blue Rapids, KS; four brothers, Ross Throm of LaJuanta, CO, Ray Penderandez of Florida, Melvin Merrill, Jr. of Blue Rapids; Ray Blevins of Seneca, KS; two sisters, Laura Pinnick of Blue Rapids, and Teena Chapman of St. Edwards, NE; niece, Crystal Merrill of Junction City, KS; and nephew, Travis Merrill of Hope, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elzeen Merrill; brother, Alan Merrill; and nephew, Jarod Merrill. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
