James “Silk” Wright, 57, Frankfort, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his home. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Padden Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Silk Wright was born Aug. 8, 1951, at Marysville to Charles E. and Ila Mae Foster Wright. He graduated from Frankfort High School and attended Washburn University school of journalism and studied counseling at Valley Hope Center, Norton. He married Janice Carolyn Knapp in 1987 at Olathe. He worked as a carpenter and did remodeling with his father. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad. He served in the Marine Corps as a lance corporal in Vietnam. Survivors include his mother; wife; stepchildren, Timothy Michael, Topeka, Sondra Michael, Overland Park, Lora Paige Remmers, Olathe; and three stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward, and his father.
