Beth Barleen

Beth Barleen of Beattie, KS, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. An afternoon service at will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norway, KS. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery. Beth Marie Barleen was born December 9, 1952, at Concordia, KS, the daughter of Lloyd and Ila Marie (Larson) Barleen. She attended schools at Valley Heights, Topeka West and graduated from Concordia High School in 1970. She moved to Beattie in 2002 and worked for Blue Valley Tele-Communications. She was preceded in death by her mother; and brother, William Barleen in 1979. Survivors include her father, Lloyd of Mesa, AZ; cherished friend, Larry Schmitz; six daughters, Michelle Foley and husband Steve of Beattie, KS, Nicole Sterling of Kansas City, MO, Davanie Nietfeld and husband Tony of Home, KS, Evangeline Armstrong and husband Justin of Frankfort, KS, Maisle Jackson and husband William of Blue Rapids, KS, Camille Mertens and husband Steve of Springfield, SD; three sisters, Jan Barleen of Waterville, KS, Barbara Barleen-Staerkel and Brenda Barleen-Doehring, both of Gold Canyon, AZ; three brothers, Jim Barleen and Ben Barleen, both of Apache Junction, AZ, Jeff Barleen of Ruidoso, NM; and thirteen grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Meadowlark Hospice and may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
