Alma E. Dwerlkotte, 91, of Marysville, KS, died September 19, 2016 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Tuesday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Sister Eulalia Kloecker led the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 21 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland officiated. Rosemary Forst played the organ while the church choir sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “I Am the Bread of Life”, “You Are Mine”, and "How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Mark Bergman, Bob Wessel, Maurice Wessel, Dennis Duryea, John David Dwerlkotte, and Duane Tanking. Burial was in the church cemetery. Alma was born August 31, 1925 near Baileyville, KS, daughter of August and Elizabeth (Osterhaus) Wessel. On May 27, 1947, she married Emil Dwerlkotte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, KS. After moving to Marysville Alma worked as a housekeeper for the Wassenberg family. She worked at Pepsi on the bottling line and gave product demos, worked at the Surf Motel and managed the Brunswick in Marysville. Alma was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, and past member of American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil, on June 13, 1996; and ten siblings. Survivors include her son, Gary (Deb) Dwerlkotte, Bremen, KS; daughter, Kathy (Harold) Bennetch, Lincoln, NE; brother, Albert Wessel, Frankfort, KS; two sisters, Eileen Duryea, Seneca, KS, and Hilda Bergman, St. Benedict; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
